Fox's Sportscar Gift For Green

11 hours ago | WENN | See recent WENN news »

Megan Fox is spoiling her on/off boyfriend Brian Austin Green this holiday season - the actress has bought him a sportscar.

The 23-year-old Transformers star recently reunited with the actor after confirming their split in June.

Now their rekindled romance has Green revved up, after Fox outbid other buyers on internet auction site Ebay and surprised her beau with a Ford classic.

She says, "It's not his Christmas present but I just recently bought him a '66 Mustang Fastback. It was actually on Ebay... and I found one in really good condition that was beautiful." »

Wolverine star Hugh Jackman to take on boxing robots in Real Steel

25 November 2009 7:09 AM, PST | The Geek Files | See recent The Geek Files news »

Fans of the X-Men films have long been wanting to see the Sentinels - giant mutant-hunting robots - on the big screen.

The metal menaces were due to feature in X2 but had to be cut from the script because they would be too expensive. The head of a Sentinel was seen briefly in X-Men: The Last Stand, and the robots were rumoured to be part of an early script for X-Men Origins: Wolverine but never made it to the final draft. (There were Sentinels in the tie-in video game, though).

Whether Sentinels will ever be part of the X-Men movies is anyone's guess, but in the meantime Wolverine actor Hugh Jackman will be taking on robots in his next film.

Jackman is to star in sci-fi movie Real Steel, based on a short story by Richard Matheson in which a fighter has to reinvent himself when human boxers are replaced by machines. »

Hugh Jackman Confirmed for Real Steel

25 November 2009 4:18 AM, PST | ScreenRant.com | See recent Screen Rant news »

According to Variety, DreamWorks has greenlit the robot boxing movie Real Steel with Aussie A-lister and Wolverine actor, Hugh Jackman, confirmed to star. We reported on Jackman’s possible involvement with Real Steel back in October, but this is the first official confirmation of his role. The sci-fi film will feature Jackman as a retired boxer who reconnects with his estranged son after he becomes a promoter for a robot boxing league. The film is based on a short story by sci-fi author Richard Matheson, and has already seen a small screen adaptation via a 1963 Twilight Zone episode.

Besides Jackman’s casting, there were a number of interesting tidbits in the Variety article. For instance, Real Steel will be DreamWorks’ first feature film since the company was refinanced by Hollywood heavyweights Steven Spielberg and Stacey Snider. Because it will be the first post-Paramount DreamWorks production, there is sure to be »

Tron Gets A Video Game

24 November 2009 10:49 AM, PST | ReelLoop.com | See recent Reel Loop news »

It seems Tron is coming back in full force. For my money, the mock Flynn’s Arcade at this year’s Comic Con was one of the show stealers (not the best football team ever, mind you) and I have to admit I’ve just recently seen the first film. Yes, I know. While most kids were started on Disney films at a ripe, young age, my pops chose to get me started on the right foot with RoboCop. What I found with Tron was one of the better live-action Disney films and just an all around fun little flick.

With the release of Tron Legacy next year (a.k.a. – Tron: Redemption for Michael Sheen,) the Mouse House is taking full advantage of this cult classic. It’s unclear right now who or what systems the game will be released for, but I suspect the major players can expect a copy. »

DreamWorks Puts 'Real Steel' In Their Ring

24 November 2009 6:03 AM, PST | Cinematical | See recent Cinematical news »

If you held out faint hope that Hugh Jackman wouldn't be helping Shawn Levy box robots, and would abandon it for a feature film adaptation of A Steady Rain, kiss it goodbye now. Variety reports that DreamWorks' Steven Spielberg and Stacey Snider have green-lit Real Steel, making it the studio's first big financial project since it split with Paramount, and had to find its own money.

Spielberg was attached to the project as executive producer when it was first announced, and it seems that it's been a real passion project for him. DreamWorks bought the project back in 2005, and it was one of the films they held onto after splitting from Paramount. "When we took it with us, we really highlighted it as something we would put the pedal to metal on," said DreamWorks co-president of production Mark Sourian. "It's a project that Steven always wanted to do. It just »

Hugh Jackman in the ring for Real Steel

24 November 2009 5:11 AM, PST | The Guardian - Film News | See recent The Guardian - Film News news »

Hugh Jackman has signed on to play a former boxer in Shawn Levy's futuristic thriller where robots are the heavyweights

Hugh Jackman has signed on to play a former boxer who launches a new career as a promoter of battling robots in Real Steel. Steven Spielberg's Dreamworks is backing the project, which is being billed as an $80m (£48.25m) futuristic play on the Rocky films. Night at the Museum director Shawn Levy will take charge of the cameras.

In the film, Jackman's character is forced to leave a life in the ring when robots replace human fighters as the biggest draw. He stumbles upon a discarded machine that always seems to win, and sets about using it to try and revive his fortunes, along the way bonding with an 11-year-old son he has only just met.

11/23/09: The Big Bang Theory – “The Vengeance Formulation”

24 November 2009 3:44 AM, PST | Atomic Popcorn | See recent Atomic Popcorn news »

As I’ve said previously, The Big Bang Theory survives solely because of its humorous components. If said humor disappeared from the show, its appeal would be nonexistent. This week’s episode proves this axiom, dropping everything appealing in favor of displaying its poorest quality: storytelling.

This week’s episode begins with a plotline appearing from nowhere; resident butt-monkey Howard is culminating his third date with Bernadette, a waitress alongside Penny at The Cheesecake Factory. Despite never being mentioned before, we are expected to sympathize with this character as if she has been a frequently appearing guest star. Worse, we’re apparently supposed to recognize her and her relations with the other characters without any sort of logical context. This is a grievous error on the part of the writing staff, CBS shuffled the broadcast order of this episode, or perhaps a wormhole opened and spat out this episode from another dimension, »

Budget, Start Date for 'Real Steel'

23 November 2009 9:05 PM, PST | CinemaSpy | See recent CinemaSpy news »

We already know that Hugh Jackman has been confirmed to star in Real Steel, which director Shawn Levy said will be "a rousing sports movie." In the futuristic film, to be produced by Steven Spielberg and Stacey Snider for the reformed DreamWorks, Jackman will play a struggling Robot Boxing promoter who finds hope in a discarded robot that always seems to win.

As previously reported, the movie takes place in a world where human boxers have been replaced by 2,000-pound machines. According to Variety, the Jackman character discovers he has an 11-year-old son, whom he develops a bond with as their robot pummels his way to glory. The screenplay is based on a short story by Richard Matheson; it was initially adapted by Dan Gilroy, but John Gatins penned the most recent version, which DreamWorks hopes to have in production next June.

The project will have a budget of roughly $80M, »

New Moon Nabs $140M on Opening Weekend, Fast Becoming Top 2009 Grossing Film

23 November 2009 12:19 PM, PST | ScreenStar | See recent ScreenStar news »

The record breaking New Moon played to jammed packed theaters this past weekend and fans couldn't get enough of Edward (Robert Pattinson), Bella (Kristen Stewart), and Jacob(Taylor Lautner). The Twilight Saga: New Moon (2009) took home over $140M, making it the third biggest opening ever next to Spider-Man 3 (2007) with $151M and The Dark Knight (2008) with $158M. With the big movie weekend behind us, how long do you think it will take for New Moon to surpass this year's top grossing film? Do you think that New Moon has any shot of coming close to James Cameron's $600M Titanic (1997)? Just on opening weekend alone, New Moon surpassed some of the most highly anticipated films of 2009 such as Angels & Demons (2009), Inglourious Basterds (2009), and District 9 (2009). Thanksgiving week is upon on which means turkey and stuffing, family and friends, and big numbers for movie theaters nationwide. Statistically, Thanksgiving is a big »

Megan Fox Will Live Through Transformers 3

22 November 2009 9:01 PM, PST | ScreenRant.com | See recent Screen Rant news »

Over the last little while we’ve seen a little bit of a public make-up session between Megan Fox and Transformers director Michael Bay.

Throughout the summer, leading up to and following the release of Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen, there was a ton of controversy and news reports following Megan Fox and what she had to say about the robot movies and their helmsman, Bay.

Some thought this might prevent or limit her role in Transformers 3 and that Michael Bay would act out of revenge and kill off her character. Of course, this was all unjustified and simply over-exaggerated out of the hype surrounding the film’s success this summer.

In July for instance, Fox said that working for Bay doesn’t involve acting and that he puts them through a boot camp-like experience just because it amuses him. In reply, Bay tossed her comments aside emphasizing that »
