I wouldn't recommend it, 22 December 2005
Author: Sandy Johnson from United States
Trite and tiring, the one-liners almost made me cry. My 4 year old left the room and ended up doing a puzzle. I don't know what age group this was written for, but the writer himself/herself didn't even want credit. As for the song, it's mildly amusing. At least it was a decade ago. There are many Christmas movies to watch. Although I've seen some many more times than this, they are still enjoyable. Whenever this comes on, I try to encourage my child to watch something else. One positive note, that allowed a vote of 2 instead of 1, is that it encourages good moral values. That would have been encouraging, if anyone were watching.

What's next? Broadway?, 5 December 2000
Author: Foggy-7 from Boston, MA
When this first came out as a song, it was amusing, a light chuckle along the lines of Weird Al's Christmas at Ground Zero. That was over a decade ago. Now someone's decided that we need a 50-minutes explanation of the backstory behind the song.
The storylines not bad...it's the sort of Christmas special that seems naggingly familiar, from the courtroom scene (Miracle on 34th Street) to the tycoon buying a locally run store (Gremlins 2). The animation is crude though, with a cookie-cutter feel to it. The producers apparently felt that we needed more songs by the same artist, all of which are lethargic one-verse ditties devoid of humor.
One thing I'll give credit to: The 'evil tycoon' at least is written by the books. But overall, this novelty of a video makes a better bookstop than anything else.

Great Holiday Film For Whole Family, 5 November 2006
Author: novastar_6 from United States
*** This comment may contain spoilers ***
Now here's a cartoon that the whole family can watch, and nobody has to watch or listen for anything that little kids ought not hear. This is just a fun little cartoon that I think can really put the Christmas spirit into people. Here you have the Spankenheimer family, a nice family who have their own little business, and they care about making the customers happy as opposed to Cousin Mel's plans for just making money and lots of it. The genuine holiday spirit consisting of loving and caring and family really works Cousin Mel's nerves, but of all the family, the worst to her is Grandma because she refuses to sell out her honest business for money. Cousin Mel decides to ruin Grandma by adding an extra ingredient to Grandma's (already) "Killer Fruitcake" (as is explained in song, and a hilarious one at that). Grandma takes the fruitcake with her when she leaves home on Christmas Eve and is involved with a hit-and-run with Santa Claus, and the sole witness to this incident is Jake Spankenheimer, the grandson. Jake can't get anyone to believe him, and he must find Grandma before Cousin Mel sells the store to Austin Bucks, who wants to turn it into a run-of-the-mill business. With nowhere left to turn, Jake sends a request to the North Pole for help in finding Grandma, and hilarity and adventure ensues from there in the race to get Grandma back home and stop Cousin Mel's fiendish plans. A highly recommended Christmas film for the whole family.

not very imaginative, but still manages to entertain, 15 October 2005
Author: allyourblood
i am somewhat of a Christmas-nut; i have quite a collection of VHS and DVD movies and cartoons that celebrate the season. most of them are classics that we all know and love. (A Christmas Story, Miracle on 34th, It's a Wonderful Life, A Christmas Carol, etc...) this is no classic. it's fairly flat in its delivery, and doesn't even offer the slightest nod to the real-life roots of Christmas (Christian or otherwise). i bought it from an online store for 1.95 with free shipping, and couldn't resist adding it to my Holiday movie collection for such a low, low price. i don't regret it.
while the acting is kinda unbalanced and the voice work could use some help (some of the voices match the characters nicely, others are jarring, like Grandpa), it's still a fun movie. kids will definitely enjoy it much more than adults, but that should be obvious from the get-go. the songs are dopey, but the presentation is so silly and the art is so colorful that the movie gets away with a lot (at least, it did with me).
i think this movie is best suited to running in the background while you're decorating the tree or having the family over for a holiday get-together. don't expect anything more.
PS: in case you're wondering, the guy who voices Austin Bucks also does TONS of video game voice acting. i recognize him most as Liquid Snake from the Metal Gear Solid series. that alone is kinda fun.

Delightful story with irresistible (& silly) lyrics, 14 December 2002
Author: Cylex from England
This is a delightfully silly Christmas film with lines & lyrics to make you laugh out loud. The lead characters come over strongly, the animation is good and the message clear. However it is the songs that make this film a must see. I was lucky enough to catch it on Cartoon Network and I bought the video soon after. I've not regretted it. 9/10

Director should have been run over by reindeer, 16 December 2002

Lame, ridiculous and absurd. My 6 year old son talked us into watching this rubbish. Tripe stereotypes and themes not appropriate for children. The antithesis of the commercialism of Christmas is not socialism it's Jesus.

Why, why, whyyyyyyy was this made?, 13 December 2006

I like a good novelty song. No, I take that back. I love a good novelty song. I absolutely despise GGROBAR on the other hand, and have from the first note I ever heard. When I found out someone had made a cartoon based on it, my head almost exploded. Now that I have seen it because my kids begged me, I wish my head had exploded. It would have saved me from the excruciating misery that was this cr@pfest. First of all, making an hour long show based on a three minute novelty song is a ridiculous idea. To stretch a song like this, which had to pad like crazy just to be that long, into an entire hour, is even more ludicrous. This was poorly written, cheaply animated, poorly acted...the list goes on and on. Dear God, is this ever bad.

2 Funny Not 2 Watch!, 18 December 2006
Author: joygoff from United States
My family and I watch this film "every" year! It's filled with Christmas humor and everyone in our family enjoys it. It appeals to all age groups. The creators of this film took a simple song, "Grandma got ran over by a reindeer," and turned it into a cute little hour film. Several other songs are added with an interesting twist to the theme of the song. Although the song insinuates that Grandma had "drank too much eggnog" meaning drunk... the film alters this to convey a family-oriented message instead (not to give away any of the story). A little trivia: Michelle Lee, veteran actress, is the voice of Cousin Mel, one of the key characters in "Grandma..." Don't miss it the next time it's listed for TV, or better yet rent it at your local library or video center.

Oh, the Pure Agony...X_X, 8 December 2006
Author: yng_tr from United States
Never I have seen a movie so terrible that i've gone insane. It was a HUGE waste of time seeing this crappy film. There are a lot of things i hate about this movie: The songs is so terrible (yet a little bit catchy) i hit my head on the wall(especially from the song 'Grandpa is gonna sue the pants out of Santa' which i hit 10 Times *shrugs*), the character design, and that evil, greedy, and Bitchy cousin Mel.
I cannot stand her for one second, she has got to be one of the most bitchiest person i've seen. Even though i kinda like her southern voice.
The only bright-side is that Austin Bucks is played by the person who is the voice of Liquid Snake from Metal Gear Solid.
I would not recommended to people to watch for the holidays as it was a HUGE disgrace for x-mas.
