Review: So You Think You Can Dance - America's Favorite Dancer (season finale)

(S06E24) From six to one, it was a night of eliminations on the sixth season finale of So You Think You Can Dance. They even trotted out six judges to sit in on the festivities. Joining Nigel Lythgoe, Mary Murphy and Adam Shankman on the dais were Lil' C, Tyce Diorio and Debbie Allen.

This allowed the show to have the judges "pick" their favorite performances of the season and have them performed again. I'm always suspect as to just how many of these choices are truly the picks of each particular judge, or if the judges are just chosen to introduce the dances the producers want to showcase again.

We also got guest appearances by dance troupe The Groovaloos, and a quartet of singers: Mary J. Blige, Jennifer Lopez, Leona Lewis and Adam Lambert. They didn't all sing together, but could you imagine that performance if they had? »

Review: Friday Night Lights - In the Bag

(S04E07) Friday Night Lights is a show that's as much about subtle touches as it is about bone-crunching hits on the football field. This episode was all about pain, but not just the kind that requires a doctor's touch. Julie felt it, as did Landry, Becky, Vince and Tim in their own ways.

For a change of pace, Tami wasn't getting the fuzzy end of the lollipop, and for Coach Taylor, things were looking up even though the sheriff was snooping around the locker of one of his players. And if you're wondering what happened after Matt left Dillon last week, read on.

New Simpsons 20th anniversary poster will make your eyes bleed yellow blood

Think you can identify every Simpsons character ever in the history of the known universe? Be our guest.

Fox has unveiled a huge new poster of all of the show's characters in the last 20 years. You can see a bigger image of the breathtaking new poster here.

It's actually quite detailed and goes well beyond the two decade long scope of the actual show. A quick scan of the characters turned up a shot of Marge and Homer from their short days on The Tracey Ullman Show.

Susan Boyle's Britain's Got Talent appearance most watched thing on YouTube in '09

This shouldn't be a surprise to anyone who doesn't live in a cave or still have dial-up Internet... or both. Although given the economy these days, I'm sure I can forgive people who still live in caves.

Susan Boyle's breakthrough performance on Britain's Got Talent garnered the most eyeballs on YouTube in 2009 with a whopping 120 million views.

Sorry, dog that's stuck in a toilet as cruel owner films you. Maybe next year.

24 season eight: Press Kits Unwrapped

With just a little over a month before the season eight premiere of 24 (it returns for a two night/four hour event on Janurary 17th and 18th), Christmas came early here at TV Squad this week when we received the new 24 press kit.

The above promotional image for the new season is enough to get us excited -- Jack Bauer jumping on top of an NYC cab and aiming a gun at the passenger seat is pretty damn exciting -- but just like the cast photo for the new season, it could contain some secrets as well. Thinks there's any weight to the word "Plot" on the folded New York Post? I'm guessing there is, but the press kit didn't offer any answers.

Comedy Central wants more Tosh.0

One of the biggest surprise hits of the season has been given a chance to make some more surprises.

Comedian Daniel Tosh's Internet snark show Tosh.0 has not only been given a second season, but it's also scored the biggest episode order in the network's history. And it did it without the use of elaborate ventriloquism puppets!

I've actually enjoyed Tosh's venture into comedy cable a lot. It delves much deeper into its subject matter than it has to and has found new ways and formats to make fun of dumb stuff on the Internet. It's America's Funniest Home Videos with a full-time writing stuff.

Newspaper article from The Office was actually real

In the recent "Scott's Tots" episode of The Office, they showed an old newspaper clipping of Michael Scott with the kids that he was going to send to college (cough, cough). They didn't show the article for long but it wasn't just one of those fake TV newspaper props that have nonsense text. The entire article was actually written. The prop department called the real Scranton Times and they created the article for the show.

Even trees love Campbell's green bean casserole at Christmas

I'm not quite sure how old this commercial is (I know it's been running for at least a few years now), but it's becoming a new Christmas classic. I like green bean casserole, but this ad has always freaked me out a little. A tree that's not only alive but has a taste for green bean casserole (and can open a window)? It's like a Christmas movie made by the people who did The Day of the Triffids.

What is Matt Groening's favorite episode of The Simpsons?

More than most other shows, it's almost impossible to pick a favorite episode from The Simpsons. When a show is around for 20 years, it's hard to narrow it down to the one episode that stands out among all the rest. Sure, there are episodes that stand out to me immediately (none from the past four or five years, that's for sure), but it would be hard to choose my favorite.

The new issue of Emmy magazine asks several writers and producers from the show what their favorite episodes are, including creator Matt Groening. Can you guess which episode he picked?

What You Missed Last Night: John Hodgman's "You're Welcome"

One of my favorite moments on television is when The Daily Show host Jon Stewart introduces John Hodgman. You know it's going to be funny and smart. In his "You're Welcome" segment last night, he attempted to solve the problem of the rising national debt.

Get your hands on some Slurm, literally

Ever wondered what Slurm, the highly addictive soft drink from Futurama that's made from the colon of a space worm queen, actually tastes like?

If you simply must know, now you can find out. It's been turned into an energy drink.

It's just one of a long line of pop culture themed energy drinks that you can use to that add that extra bit of pep to your day without having to start drinking before noon.

You can also buy a case of Flaming Moe's (grape flavored kiddie cough syrup sold separately) and even a Duff Beer, which I'm assured is an energy drink. Funny, that's what Daddy used to call his brand of beer, too.

Tyra Banks helps make an SNL skit come to life

Parent Dish -- one of TV Squad's... cousins? step-aunts? -- has a great article about the newest baby fashion accessory: baby wigs. Seriously. Someone has invented and is marketing wigs for infants. In fact, Tyra Banks devoted a segment on her talk show to the phenomenon. I expected her to be all for it, as she has made no secret of her love affair with wigs, but to her credit, she seems appropriately disgusted by the idea.

Watch more YouTube videos on AOL Video The article makes it seem as though parents are buying these for their children because having a bald head hurts the baby's self-esteem. That sounds somehow... familiar.

Gordon Ramsay's Cookalong was half fun, half terrible

This was not what I was expecting.

I don't think I've ever been as confused by a TV show while I was actually watching it. Maybe because Gordon Ramsay's Cookalong was live or maybe it was because Chef Gordon Ramsay had to move at such a frantic pace to get everything done in an hour.

Whatever the reason, I found myself hating the show at first, then kinda liking it, then hating, then liking it, then finding it a little stupid, and then kinda liking it. On a scale of 1 to 10, which 1 being "I hated it" and 10 being "I loved it," I'll give it a 5.

How's that for a politician-like decision?

President Obama to appear on the WWE

President Obama will be appearing on the NBC special WWE Tribute to the Troops on December 19th. Granted, it will be a pre-taped message for the soldiers, but that still counts, right?

It won't even be Obama's first WWE appearance. There were pre-taped messages on one of the WWE broadcasts during the last presidential election by John McCain, Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama (this was before Clinton ceded to Obama). The upcoming event is, to the best of my knowledge, the first WWE taping he has done as President of the United States.

Of course, in my imagination President Obama appears live at the event and steps into the ring. He then calls out WWE Champion Sheamus to a title match. He almost gets the pin until Captain Lou Albano comes back from the dead, runs into the ring with a steel chair and causes a disqualification on the whole match. »

All Joel wants for Festivus

If anyone has followed our Festivus festivities for the last four years, you'll remember that every year I ask for certain gifts to appear under my aluminum pole, and it never happens. So if I were to air any grievances this year, that would be it.

But 2009's a new year, so I have a new list of gripes and wishes that I hope get fulfilled in 2010:

That I get the power to bend space and time. That's the only way I'll be able to watch and/or record the coming Monday slate: Himym, House, and Chuck will all be on at 8 Pm. Maybe I need to wish for a couple of TiVo HD XLs to appear under my pole. Speaking of Chuck, I hope they follow up last year's bang-up finale with a great third season. And I hope people watch. That season two of Breaking Bad comes »

Review: Scrubs - Our Histories

(S09E04) It was good to see an episode that had a bit more of a balance between the old and the new. Yes, we concentrated a lot on the J.D./Turk "Bro-a-Palooza" and Ted's departure from Sacred Heart. But we also got a fair amount of the students working together.

Do Lucy and Cole still need a little bit more of a personality infusion? Sure. But it's hard to keep up comedically with characters who have been developed over the last eight years. This episode gives me hope that eventually they're going to be able to stand on their own.

J.J. Abrams casts Major Dad in new action pilot

J.J. Abrams, a man chemically designed to create television shows, has another pilot in the works and this one will star veteran TV actor Gerald McRaney.

He's been picked for a pilot called Undercovers, a spy action show described as a cross between Mr. and Mrs. Smith and The Bourne Identity.

McRaney will play a CIA boss overseeing a husband and wife spy couple. Abrams wrote the pilot with TV scribe Josh Reims who's also written scripts for ABC's Brothers & Sisters and Dirty Sexy Money. Abrams may also step in the director's chair for the pilot episode commissioned by NBC.
