Join The Cast Of Guillermo Del Toro's 'The Hobbit' As An Extra
2 hours ago
Do you have extraordinarily hairy feet that you never slip into shoes? Do you eat an unusual amount of meals throughout the day without putting on any extra weight to speak of? Are you just generally funny looking?
If you fit the bill for any of the aforementioned qualities, then maybe — just maybe — you're right for a part in "The Hobbit," the upcoming "Lord of the Rings" prequel produced by original helmer Peter Jackson and directed by Guillermo Del Toro.
The Noldor Blog has posted a set of instructions on how to apply for a role as an extra in "The Hobbit." Prospective actors are to submit "clear photographs of your head, straight on and profile" as well as full bodyshots (also straight on and profile pictures) to the following New Zealand address:

Check Out 'The White Ribbon,' 'The Loss Of A Teardrop Diamond' And 'The Chaser' In This Week's unLimited
5 hours ago
New Year's week is typically a dry time for new releases, which is likely fine by multiplex employees. After last weekend's record box office, they could use a rest. But we cinephiles are always in need of fresh options, and just because it's the week after Christmas -- a traditional peak time for moviegoing -- doesn't mean there should be a total lack of new offerings. I know I'm not the only person who grew up regularly going to the movies on New Year's Eve.
Fortunately, while there seems to be no studio fare out this week, there are a few new films coming out in limited release. And each appears to be worth checking out if they're available in your area now or later, theatrically or otherwise.
What it is: The latest from Austrian filmmaker Michael Haneke ("Funny Games"), "The White Ribbon" is a drama set »

A 'Star Wars' Star And A 'Mallrats' Star Join Ted Dibiase Jr. In His Film Debut
6 hours ago
From MTV.Com: It's no wonder that WWE superstar Ted Dibiase Jr. is a natural in the wrestling ring. His grandparents (yeah, his grandmother fought as well) were feared squared-circle competitors, and his father, "Million Dollar Man" Ted Dibiase, is a WWE Hall of Famer. The elder Ted's résumé is legendary. So when Ted Jr. came to prominence as a member of the Legacy faction last year (the trio is led by Randy Orton, son of Hall of Famer "Cowboy" Bob Orton, and Cody Rhodes, son of Hall of Famer "American Dream" Dusty Rhodes), it was really no surprise. Ted Jr. won the tag-team titles in his first match for the WWE.
Now Ted Dibiase Jr. is stepping into a whole new arena, and it's not one of the many venues that house WWE events all year round. The WWE is promoting Dibiase's acting chops in the film "The Marine 2, »

'The Addams Family' Heads To Broadway -- Which Other Classic Shows Should Follow Suit?
Maybe I've been living under a rock, but count this as breaking news for at least one reporter — there is an "Addams Family" musical on its way to Broadway.
Variety reports that Jerry Zaks has been hired as a creative consultant to rework "The Addams Family," which is described as a "Broadway-bound tuner." In other words, a musical. In other words, amazing.
It's hard to determine whether or not a musical adaptation of the classic television series (and hilarious film franchise) is a ridiculously stupid idea or a ridiculously great one. Depending on the execution, it really could go either way. One thing is for sure — the idea of adapting classic TV shows as Broadway musicals is an interesting one. I wonder how well it would work for some other old school shows...

Kim Kardashian Connects With Reggie Bush In Today's Daily TwitPic
8 hours ago
Twitter is more than just a social networking tool. It's also a platform for showcasing your greatest triumphs. Take Reggie Bush. Running back for the New Orleans Saints and 2005 Heisman Trophy winner. His team is a heavy favorite to win the Super Bowl in February. Accomplished guy. Lot of achievements to wave around from that soapbox.
So which does he settle on? A Connect Four win. In today's Daily TwitPic, Bush flaunts his win over Kim Kardashian in the classic Milton Bradley table game. In the micro-blogging equivalent of an over-the-top Touchdown celebration, he even forces Kardashian to tweet the pic from her own feed. No penalties here though... everything's fair game on the Internet.

Will Future 'Avatar' Movies Focus On Pandora's Neighboring Moons?
Fans of James Cameron can breathe a sigh of relief: "Avatar" is doing just fine, having just topped the box office for its second weekend in a row, leading the way to the single biggest weekend ever at the domestic box office. Given that success, some are already looking towards the next natural step: a sequel.
Even Cameron himself has thought about the prospects of further "Avatar" installments. In an interview with Hero Complex, the director revealed that future sequels could involve Pandora's neighboring moons and even the central planet, known as Polyphemus.
"The planet in Pandora's sky is called Polyphemus and it's the primary for a system of moons, just like in our solar system, Jupiter has fifty some moons and they're discovering smaller ones all of the time," said Cameron.
"We have some story ideas for how to branch out into other moons of Polyphemus and the Alpha Centauri A solar system, »

'Sherlock Holmes,' A Lost Kindle, And A Love Song To Uncle Jesse In Today's Twitter-Wood
28 December 2009 2:01 PM, PST
Somewhere in Hollywood there's a lonely Kindle lying in the middle of a street, and it belongs to Paul Feig. He requested that anyone finding it let him know via Twitter today, where posting was a bit slow due to many of the movie industry's tweeters being on vacation. There were still plenty of shout-outs both good and bad about "Avatar" and "Sherlock Holmes," though, the latter of which was so packed that even Nicky Hilton couldn't get in.
There needs to be a special award for Dave Coulier today, who linked to a re-lyric'd performance of a Taylor Swift song dedicated to Uncle Jesse from "Full House" -- and anyone who follows Twitter-Wood knows that I can't resist retweeting a good "Full House" post. Check it out after the jump along with Kevin Smith's outlook on "Iron Man 2" and Brian Lynch's evaluation of his Wikipedia profile. »

'Toy Story 3' Featurette Shows Buzz Lightyear And His Friends Getting Trashed
28 December 2009 10:38 AM, PST
We've waited more than a decade for a new entry to the venerable "Toy Story" franchise, and we're finally getting one on June 18, 2010 when "Toy Story 3" hits theaters. Little has been seen of footage since the initial announcement, but a new featurette assures us that we're back in good hands.
In the clip below, a college-bound Andy (voiced by the original kid from the first two films) is forced by his mother to store his stuff or face the trash heap. Having separated Woody, the rest of the toys are destined for the attic. Of course, like the beginning of all great adventures, something goes horribly awry. Check it out below or click here to watch it in HD.

Mr. T Will Not Have A Cameo In 'The A-Team'
28 December 2009 8:00 AM, PST
You can't fool us, we know you're excited for "The A-Team." When director Joe Carnahan brings his modern interpretation of the classic '80s action TV series to the big screen next summer, you're going to feel compelled to buy a ticket.
Maybe it's the chance to see that pimped-out supervan of theirs again. Maybe it's the players, a well-cast ensemble that includes Liam Neeson as Hannibal, Bradley Cooper as Faceman, Sharlto Copley as "Howling Mad" Murdock and Ufc champion Quinton "Rampage" Jackson as B.A. Baracus, the role made famous by Mr. T. Or maybe you're excited at the prospect of seeing some of the old Team assemble for cameos. Well... it's probably best if you temper that excitement a little bit.
We already know that Dwight Schultz, the original Murdock, will appear in the film. We also know (via Cinematical) that Faceman actor Dirk Benedict will show up as well. »

Ice T Demonstrates His 'Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare 2' Gaming Skills In Today's Daily TwitPic
28 December 2009 6:00 AM, PST
Regular Twitter users and fans know quite well that rapper and "Law & Order: Svu" star Ice T is a dedicated video gamer. He's very vocal about his love for interactive experiences, crowing about his latest purchase or his Xbox Live gamertag (it's "Lord 187X") at every opportunity. And more power to him for it, for shining some positive light on the relatively new and frequently embattled medium.
Of course, none of us really know how serious Ice is about his games. We know he's a "Call of Duty" fan, and a big one, but not if he's actually any good. Or we didn't know, anyway. In today's Daily TwitPic, Ice gives a taste of just how honed his skills are. Every multiplayer session in "Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2" is followed by an after-action report, detailing a player's score and Accolades (awards for finishing a session with a specific set »
