First the good news: There won't be a Superbad sequel. That's according to Judd Apatow, who said in a recent interview, "I can't get them to make a Superbad sequel. I begged, but they don't want to ruin it. They think its a gem of a movie, and they don't want a crappy second one." In this situation, "they" are Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg, the writers, and perhaps stars Jonah Hill and Michael Cera.
And whoever "they" are in total, they're right. I don't know where you take it, exactly, or how you get it to find the kind of novelty that made the first film so successful. It's possible, but it's also probable that a sequel would come up more than a little bit short.
Now the bad news, or potentially bad news: Apatow says that Rogen and Golderg may revisit another film for a part two. "There »

Stand-up comedian and film producer Judd Apatow sits down for a Q & A session with the Funny or Die Writer's Room live stream, during when he talks about the possibility of making sequels to two of his produced films, "Pineapple Express" and "Superbad". He says, while sequel of "Pineapple Express" is likely to be made, it's highly unlikely for a sequel to "Superbad" to be made because its star Seth Rogen and screenwriter Evan Goldberg don't want to ruin the original.
"I can't get [Rogen and Goldberg] to make the 'Superbad' sequel. I begged, but they don't want to ruin it. They think it's a gem of a movie and they don't want a crappy second," Judd muses. He goes on revealing, "There's a little talk about a 'Pineapple Express' sequel if that's your cup of tea ... your bowl of smoke. You probably have a better shot of seeing that [than any Superbad 2 or any other Apatow sequel]."

The Apatow-verse still hasn't dealt with sequels as of yet, but it's bound to happen eventually. Yesterday Judd Apatow appeared on the Funny or Die Writer's Room and talked about topics ranging from his first project and living with Adam Sandler, to potential sequels for films he's directed or produced. In regards to the latter, he offered up some info on the potential for Superbad and Pineapple Express sequels. Apatow seemed pretty confident that Superbad 2 probably won't happen anytime soon, despite how much he's begged Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg. He says "they don't want to ruin it", and that "it's a gem of a movie, and they don't want a crappy second." He goes on to say that there's a little talk of a Pineapple Express sequel, and that we'd "have a better shot at seeing that." While I had fun with Superbad, I'd personally much rather see any »

FunnyOrDie hosted a live Q&A online with writer/producer/director Judd Apatow. At one point during the Q&A, Apatow was asked if he had any plans for sequels to the hit movies Superbad and Pineapple Express both of which co-starred Seth Rogen who also co-wrote the script with writing partner Evan Goldberg. Apatow says it’s highly unlikely they would ever do a sequel to Superbad because Rogen and Goldberg don’t want to ruin the original. As for Pineapple Express, Apatow goes a little further and says they might do a sequel but right now there’s nothing planned. Finally, Apatow does explain that he’s not opposed to building off previous films as the upcoming Get Him to the Greek is a spin-off of Forgetting Sarah Marshall starring Russell Brand’s character Aldous Snow.
But let’s take a moment for some perspective. If you watch »

Ever since comedic actor Seth Rogen announced a new Green Hornet movie, superhero fans have feared all the years of work to get the genre taken seriously would be undone.
The later Batman movies of the 90s had made comic book adaptations a neon-lit no-go zone and it took Blade and then X-Men to revive them again. Now we have solid releases such as The Dark Knight and Iron Man delivering accessible, credible hits.
Rogen, previously known as a chubby comedian and not for any action hero roles, has co-written Green Hornet with Superbad partner Evan Goldberg. He will also play the lead role of newspaper publisher Britt Reid who has an alter-ego as the eponymous masked crimefighter, aided by a martial arts sidekick called Kato and a hi-tech car called Black Beauty.
French filmmaker Michel Gondry stepped in to direct the feature earlier this year, and that has gone »

At a recent press junket for the TV movie Monsters Vs. Aliens: Mutant Pumpkins From Outer Space, Seth Rogen spoke about The Green Hornet, which he is currently shooting and co-wrote with Evan Goldberg (Superbad). Rogen told MovieWeb that it is a relief to finally be working on the oft-troubled movie.
It is [a relief]. An enormous one; constantly. But we still have to make it awesome. So the true relief isn't there yet.
With Stephen Chow dropping out as director and co-star, the release being pushed back five months, and Nicolas Cage also quitting the project, The Green Hornet has had it's share of troubles before it even started production. At one point, Rogen joked that The Green Hornet was never going to be made but would be promoted "for the next 10 years." Now that Rogen and director Michel Gondry are finally working on the movie, Rogen doesn't feel that the pressure's off. »

Seth Rogen is in the middle of shooting the upcoming big screen adaptation of The Green Hornet, which is being directed by Michel Gondry. While out doing press for Monsters Vs. Aliens: Mutant Pumpkins from Outer Space, which will air on NBC Wednesday, October 28 (8-8:30 p.m. Et), Rogen took some time out to update everyone on his latest project. Here is what he had to say about his version of The Green Hornet, which he wrote with his writing partner Evan Goldberg:
Can you give us an update on The Green Hornet and Paul? Is being Green Hornet everything you imagined? And what's it like when you hang out with the Shaun of the Dead guys?
Seth Rogen: The Green Hornet is everything I imagined and more. And the Shaun of the Dead guys, Simon and Nick, are very wonderful. Oh my God! Simon and Nick. »

In a story about the official start of the Oscar push for Sacha Gervasi's documentary Anvil! The Story of Anvil , L.A. Times reporter Pete Hammond mentions that the band recently shot a scene for Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg's take on the pulp hero The Green Hornet , currently shooting with director Michel Gondry at the helm. There's no mention whether the band will be playing themselves, but the scene they filmed has them playing in a club before they.... Spoiler Alert!! "literally explode." Of course, the appearance of Anvil does raise a lot of questions about the time period in which the movie is set, because the original Green Hornet mainly appeared from the '30s through the '60s on a series of radio shows, film serials and a television show before... »

Fans who have been waiting to see if Seth Rogen can really deliver as a masked crusader are one step closer to either breathing a sigh or relief, or eating their proverbial hats. Some brand new set pics have surfaced showing off Rogen taking on the role of Britt Reid’s alter ego, and by the looks of them, he may be emerging as a true pulp hero. While these aren’t the first pics we’ve seen from the film’s set, they are the first we’ve seen of Rogen in the domino mask and fedora.
Written by Rogen and partner Evan Goldberg (Superbad) with Michel Gondry (Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind) sitting in the directors chair. The Green Hornet follows the adventures of Britt Reid, newspaper publisher by day, masked superhero by night, and his sidekick Kato (Jay Chou). Starring alongside Rogen is Edward James Olmos, »

Yesterday we had out first look at Seth Rogen.s Green Hornet costume here, today we have a look at Seth Rogen actually in the costume. Surprisingly, it actually looks better with him wearing it. Rogen knows how to wear a mask. The action image below comes from Splash News where they have a higher-res version. Rogen looks great but I.m still not sold on Kato. I wish they.d found some way to ditch the classic limo driver costume. Sorry, there.s just no way that can look good. Here.s the pic: A classic character of film, television, radio, and comic books returns to the big screen in Columbia Pictures. feature film The Green Hornet, starring Seth Rogen as the vigilante crime-fighter. Today we have a couple of first looks for you lucky Screen Rant readers: a first look at the new A-Team, and also our first look at the costume Seth Rogen will be donning to play the masked superhero, The Green Hornet.
We recently gave you the first look at the new A-Team van on the Vancouver set of the upcoming movie adaptation of the classic ’80s TV series. And today - thanks to ComingSoon.net - we have our very first look at Liam Neeson (as Hannibal), Bradley Cooper (as Faceman), Quinton “Rampage” Jackson (as B.A. Baracus) and District 9’s Sharlto Copley (as Murdock). It’s not the greatest of photos (I think we’re a few months away from official, high quality shots) but it nonetheless serves as our first look at the new Team.

First taste on how Britt Reid will look like in his Green Hornet costume in "The Green Hornet" has been shared. Splash News has posted a video from the set of the masked vigilante adaptation which contains a brief glimpse at Green Hornet's costume. It isn't clear whether the man behind the costume is Seth Rogen or his stunt double.
Aside from exposing first look at the vigilante's costume, the video also displays some on-set explosions. A peek at Kato in his crime-fighting costume is also available to view. The footage from the set can be enjoyed via Splash News.
Rogen's co-star Edward James Olmos opened up earlier to Los Angeles Times that he will play Michael Axford, a reporter for the Daily Sentinel who works together with Britt Reid's father James. "We're the backbone of the paper," he said. "Things go awry, and I end up having to try »

No, that's not Seth Rogen looking like someone who decided at the last minute to be the Riddler for Halloween. It's presumably his stuntman. But it is our first good look at Rogen's costume for The Green Hornet, which has started shooting in Los Angeles. The picture is from a short video posted at Splash News Online, filmed paparazzi-style from behind the barricades where a stunt sequence was being shot. There's an explosion, and a bulldozer is dropped on a car, so that's pretty exciting.
Michel Gondry is directing the film, which is scheduled for a December 2010 release, and the screenplay is by Rogen and his old writing buddy Evan Goldberg. Jay Chou plays Kato, the Hornet's butler and chauffeur; Cameron Diaz plays a love interest; Christoph Waltz (who you loved in Inglourious Basterds) plays a villain; and Edward James Olmos plays a newspaper reporter trying to unmask the Hornet »

Mishap apparently isn't ready to leave the set of "The Green Hornet". After a car chase scene went awry in early September, the Los Angeles set of the masked vigilante adaptation saw a bomb scare unraveling on Tuesday, September 29 as crew members found an unidentified metal object lying in the parking lot.
Following the discovery, the crew alerted the security which led to response from Lapd bomb squad. Preventing the worse, the squad reportedly blew up the object on the spot with a robot. A police spokesman told E! News, "Everything is clear, they only found a smoke detector." It is unclear whether the stars, including Seth Rogen and Cameron Diaz, were on the set during the incident.
Earlier in the month, the production was hit with an on-set mishap when a stunt driver, who was reportedly manning the Black Beauty car, lost control of the car and crashed into »

The greatest thing about last night's premiere episode of The Simpsons was just how current and fanboy-ish it was, and that's because it was written by Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg (Superbad), the former of which also voiced the character of Homer's Hollywood trainer. But perhaps the best part of the episode came when Rogen -- who's had a long-standing feud with the gang from Entourage -- used his character to take another jab at the HBO show after they used him as the punching bag for a storyline earlier this season.
Simpsons Spoiler Warning
The joke came right at the end of the episode when Homer is yelling at his Hollywood trainer (voiced by Rogen) for ditching him, thus nudging Homer off his diet and back on the chubby wagon -- a move that ultimately ruined the superhero movie he was starring in. So when Homer demands to know »

The Fall Season has returned and finally our weeks can feel slightly normal. Longstanding favorites like House and Grey's Anatomy returned to their comfortable fan base, while new shows attempted to make their mark and stand up against some veteran shows. Our first major week of regular programming brought us a cancellation, the F-bomb, and a high school choir belting out the competition.
Fox's "Animation Domination" Sunday returns tonight and it begins with an episode of The Simpsons written by superfan Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg. Rogen, who has lost a huge amount of weight training for The Green Hornet, wrote about a fictional comic book character called Everyman, who becomes a movie. In a parallel to Rogen's own life, Homer Simpson is cast in the role of Everyman, while Rogen plays a trainer who encourages Homer to lose weight and get in shape for the role. The only other »

Seth Rogen has overcome many obstacles for "The Green Hornet" film, including losing weight for the role and dealing with endless casting problems. He has decided to take his experiences, and with his writing partner Evan Goldberg, Rogen has penned an episode of "The Simpsons." In the episode, Comic Book Guy creates Everyman, who can gain superpowers by touching the comic book of any superhero. The Everyman comic is such a success it becomes a film, with Homer in the title role. A trainer-to-the-stars, voiced by Rogen, pushes him to get in shape. "In a lot of ways it mirrored the situation we were in working with The Green Hornet," Rogen told USA Today. "I had to lose weight and do a lot of physical training. It seemed hilarious to us as it was happening." The episode is the 21st season premiere of "The Simpsons" and will air this Sunday »

Nicolas Cage explained his reasons for a quick exit from Seth Rogen’s The Green Hornet while promoting Bad Lieutenant: Port of Call New Orleans during the Toronto Film Festival. Despite earlier accusations that his concerns revolved around the almighty dolla’, Cage was actually not very interested in the type of bad guy director Michel Gondry and Rogen wanted.
“The Green Hornet was something that I wanted to do, I think Michel Gondry is very talented and I had hoped it would work but I think Seth Rogen and Michel had a different take on the character,” the Oscar winner said. “I wasn’t interested in just being just a straight-up bad guy who was killing people willy-nilly.”
Nic only plays complex characters.
